to Utah State University and Aggie Basketball!
This is a special place to receive your college education and
play for one of the top basketball programs in the west. Utah
State has won at least 21 games in each of the last 14 years and
is one of just five schools in the nation to accomplish that
feat. The “Aggie Spirit” that our students show towards our
basketball program and our players is truly something special.
Over 80 percent of Utah State’s 28,994 students live on or close
to campus. That atmosphere in the Spectrum on game night is an
experience that is truly something special to be a part of. If
you love college basketball like I do, Utah State will become a
special place for you as well. I am very proud of the fact that
in my 15 years at Utah State we have graduated over 80 percent
of our players. That number is almost twice the national average
and is the most important statistic that I can give you about
our basketball program.
We are excited about entering our first season in the Mountain
West Conference. Last season, the Mountain West was ranked as
the number one RPI conference in the country and sent a
league-record five teams to the NCAA Tournament. With five of
its nine teams earning bids to the 2013 NCAA Tournament, the
Mountain West had the highest percentage at 56 percent of its
teams included in the Big Dance of any of the 31 conferences.
The Mountain West was also one of six conferences with five or
more teams participating in March Madness in 2013. We are very
proud to represent the Mountain West, which is a conference that
provides us the chance to renew our great travel opportunities
and exciting regional rivalries. Schools such as Boise State,
Nevada, Fresno State, New Mexico, San Diego State and UNLV
promise to provide tremendous competition in all sports for
years to come.
The winning basketball tradition here at Utah State University
is a long standing one and something we are determined to
continue. I sincerely hope you enjoy finding out more about this
great University and about the “Aggie Way.”
